L.L. Bean employees, who get a discount of 33 - 40 percent, have named the company to Fortune magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For three times. The retailer is looking to hire 100 more for its Legacy Village store in Lyndhurst.
LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Outdoors retailer L.L. Bean is holding a three-day job fair in Northeast Ohio -- including an appearance by its famous Bean "Bootmobile" -- to hire 100 employees for its first local store opening at Legacy Village shopping center this November.
The three-day event, bookended by events at its future home in Legacy Village, will feature the pickup truck-sized Bootmobile and hands-on activities.
Freeport, Maine-based L.L. Bean, best known for its sturdy boat and tote bags, plaid shirts, rugged clothing, and rubber-soled weatherproof boots, is a 103-year-old, fourth-generation, family-owned retailer. Founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, the company has 4,966 employees and reported $1.6 billion in revenues in 2014.
Consumers like its free shipping policy and 100-percent satisfaction guarantee, while employees, who get a discount of 33 percent to 40 percent, have helped name the company to Fortune magazine's list of 100 Best Companies to Work For three times. It was also named No. 5 on Forbes' Best Employers 2015 list.
Its 16,000-square-foot Legacy Village store will occupy the space that formerly housed Talbots, Talbots Petites, Talbots Woman, and Talbots Accessories & Shoes. Talbots is moving across the street to where Coldwater Creek and Christopher & Banks once stood.
From 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, recruiters will be at Legacy Village, 25001 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst.
From 7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, recruiters will be at Wendy Park for the Whiskey Island Stand-Up Paddleboard Race & Festival, 2800 Whiskey Island, Cleveland.
From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, recruiters will be at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, 3900 Wildlife Way, Cleveland.
From noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, recruiters will be back at Legacy Village.
The store will carry "an assortment of active and casual apparel and footwear, as well as outdoor lifestyle gear including hiking, fishing, fly-fishing, kayaking, winter gear, and camping products."
Lyndhurst store jobs listed on L.L. Bean's website include sales representatives, stock leads, customer service department manager, operations manager, and kayak instructor at the store's Outdoor Discovery School.
L.L. Bean's Outdoor Discovery Schools offer demonstrations, clinics and hands-on activities such as snowshoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, archery, and fly-casting.
