Tired of high electric bills and power failures. Talk to people who have done something about it. Most are not "off the grid," but some include backup power storage on site.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Green Energy Ohio's annual free tour of homes and businesses featuring solar arrays, wind turbines, solar-powered electric cars, geothermal heating and other technologies is the weekend of Oct 3, 4 and 5.

Across the state, there are more than 100 open houses.

In Northeast Ohio, there are four guided tours, including two free bus tours, one in Summit County and one combining stops in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties. Both include complimentary lunches.
