Kohl's hiring more than 67,000 for the 2014 holidays, up 34 percent from last year's 50,000

"Kohl's is building a winning team by hiring more than 67,000 seasonal associates across the country to ensure we sustain the great service our customers know and have come to expect," Richard Schepp, Kohl's senior executive vice president, human resources and general counsel, said.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Kohl's Department Stores on Wednesday announced it expects to hire more than 67,000 seasonal workers -- an average of 50 per store -- this holiday season. That's 34 percent higher than the 50,000 workers it said it was hiring this time last year.

"Kohl's is building a winning team by hiring more than 67,000 seasonal associates across the country to ensure we sustain the great service our customers know and have come to expect," Richard Schepp, Kohl's senior executive vice president, human resources and general counsel, said in a written statement.

Kohl's has 1,163 stores in 49 states, including 58 in Ohio, and 20 in Greater Cleveland.

The Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based department store chain said it is also hiring about 9,300 seasonal workers at its distribution centers (versus 6,400 last year), to help ensure that merchandise gets out to the retail stores and to online customers.

That includes more than 2,200 workers at an E-Commerce Fulfillment Center in Monroe, Ohio, and more than 150 at the Kohl's Distribution Center in Findlay, a company spokeswoman said.

Kohl's will hire another 670 seasonal credit operations workers (nearly double last year's 350) to help customers with kohls.com orders.

Kohl's said hiring has already started, and that most of the jobs will be filled by mid-November. For information about current openings, log on to kohlscareers.com
