BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- Microsoft has confirmed that its 32 pop-up stores in the United States and Canada -- including the one at Beachwood Place mall -- will open on Friday, Oct. 26.

The Beachwood store, featuring what the company calls "our curated selection of the
coolest Microsoft products," will be on the mall's lower level Center Court, in front of The Art of Shaving.

Microsoft has been quiet about its plans, other than to say more details would be revealed soon.

ComputerWorld reports that Oct. 26 is also "the day Microsoft officially starts selling Windows 8 and Windows RT-powered Surface tablets."

It also said the pop-up stores more than double the number of bricks-and-mortar locations where the company can show off and sell its products.

PC World noted last month that most of the 32 stores will open near, and in some cases right next door to, rival Apple Stores.

Apple has a retail store at nearby Legacy Village in Lyndhurst.

The Beachwood store is the only Microsoft retail location in Ohio.
