STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - C.TRAC Inc., an interactive digital and direct mail market agency, was acquired Monday by Pierry Software.
Susan Williamson, C.TRAC's president, will join the Redwood City, California-based firm as the combined entities' chief operating officer. None of the 45 employees are expected to lose their jobs as a result of the acquisition. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Williamson said the company was seeking a company in this area to add to its portfolio of locations that also include Boulder, Colorado, and Kyoto, Japan. The company was ranked No. 21 in the "2015 Fastest Growing Companies" in the San Francisco Business Times.
"We are absolutely staying in Northeast Ohio," said Williamson, 47. "When you're in digital marketing, you have to be able to help clients in different time zones."
Both companies offer professional marketing services. Pierry was founded in 2008 as a digital marketing firm, while C.TRAC is a 43-year-old company that started out as an inventory management company. When point of purchase systems took over the company's offerings, C.TRAC transformed into a direct mail and direct marketing firm. The company first moved into the digital space in 2009, when clients needed help with email marketing, and continued to evolve from there.
Willamson said the digital marketing industry is growing primarily because chief marketing officers need help with connecting different types of marketing technology that they buy for content management, e-mail marketing and social media monitoring.
"Chief marketing officers now own most of the technology spend in so many organizations. But the marketing people don't really understand how to connect the different pieces of technology," she said. "Companies like C.TRAC and Pierry help companies to build a seamless customer base."
Josh Pierry, founder and CEO of Pierry Software, said the acquisition of C.TRAC makes Pierry Software one of largest salesforce marketing cloud implementers, integrators and consultants in the world.
"As more companies adopt new solutions to meet and engage their customers, we anticipate a growing opportunity for services such as ours," he said in a written statement. "The talented team from C.TRAC will be a tremendous asset as we expand in the U.S. and globally."
The bulk of C.TRAC's business comes from developing and improving companies' direct-mail lists and databases.
"The database roots is the most important reason of why we're so successful," Williamson said. "because if you understand that, you can apply it to any channel."
