CLEVELAND, Ohio - SyncShow, a digital marketing agency, is kicking off a new monthly video series that celebrates manufacturing.
October is manufacturing month, but the agency has partnered with several organizations to promote the industry year-round. Touted as a community awareness initiative, no commercials will be played in the short videos.
Each month, one Northeast Ohio manufacturer will be featured in a video that showcases their contributions to the Cleveland area. Manufacturers will be nominated by the public at the website, WeManufactureCLE.com.
"We want to bring to light the excitement and the growth and momentum of an industry that Clevelanders don't really think about, but we come in contact with everyday," said Amanda Skiles, account manager at SyncShow in Cleveland.
About 85 percent of the company's clients are manufacturers, and Skiles said the company wants to play a role in sharing stories of other Northeast Ohio companies that make "amazing products and environments."
"At SyncShow we meet a lot of manufacturing companies that are relatively unknown. They have incredible stories, and they have such an impact on our community and they get no credit for it," she said.
SyncShow reached out to partnering sponsors that include manufacturing support organizations, Magnet and WireNet, as well as Integrity Staffing, Boondock Walker and Meaden & Moore.
The first video is on Rustbelt Reclamation, a company that manufactures furniture from reclaimed materials in Cleveland. The Cleveland manufacturer makes dining tables, boardroom tables and end tables from re-purposed materials salvaged mainly from condemned or abandoned houses, churches and factories in the area. The company also helps create unique environments at businesses such as restaurants.
The three-year-old company, which launched as Reclaimed Cleveland, started rebranding last year after getting input and orders at nine trade shows nationwide. From commissioned tables or kitchen projects to large commercial projects from restaurants, hotels and offices, Deej Lincoln, who runs the fast-growing furniture manufacturing business in Midtown Cleveland, learned more about the market after talking to lots of interior designers, restaurant owners and retailers.
His takeaway, he told The Plain Dealer in February: Design, quality, sustainability and Made in the USA matter.

The site encourages people who work in manufacturing and observers who have experienced their contributions to life in Northeast Ohio to make nominations. For more information, go to WeManufactureCLE.com.
Chris Peer, chief executive officer at SyncShow, said that when people think about Northeast Ohio businesses, large manufacturers like Lincoln Electric, General Motors and Timken Steel most likely come to mind. But smaller companies make parts that go into appliances and other items.
"But what about all of the smaller manufacturers that affect our lives on a daily basis? The ones that make the products we use every day? The ones that make the food we eat or build the places we visit?," he said in a written statement.
"We Manufacture CLE is about them. It's time to call attention to the manufacturers that are existing behind the scenes that make our region tick!"
